"Now I know Pinhead has been done to death by numerous people, but I thought I'd
have a go. Firstly, this is all my own work. Secondly, I know the costume isn't
quite accurate as I wasn't going to do Pinhead originally it was going to be one
of my own designs. The make-up started off as a thin layer of latex covering my
whole head. Thicker sheets of latex were then cut into squares and stuck on to
create the grid effect.152 real nails were used, after I cut the points off of
course, they were then stuck into place with very strong glue. The whole thing
was then painted.
The costume would have been very expensive to make if I'd used real leather and pvc/rubber looks tacky, so I had to make my own. I did this by covering bathroom tissue with layers of rubber solution glue, painting each layer before doing the next. Once I had enough I then made the costume as you would if you were using material or cloth sewing or gluing the various parts together. The piece round my waist was actually carpet underlay and the "skirt" was shiny black material. The costume took about a week to make and the make up about 2 days. I can now put the makeup on in about 1 hour."
