The Implements of Reason and the Consequences Therein
by James Livesay

The Implements of Reason and the Consequences Therein

Hearing faint chimes in the distance
I turn the puzzle over
Just a few more turns
Just a few more twists

Slit my eyes
I'm not dreaming anymore
Binding chains
My soul splattered on the floor

Hooks sink deeper
Stretching tight
Disfiguring
All I hear is the sound of my chattering teeth

Leather sewn to flesh
Spear my nerve endings
I can't feel anymore
I know only pain

Watching now
As the flesh
Splits before my eyes
Hooks and needles
Tear away the thin disguise
Staring now
As the flames
Warp the bleeding moon
Stirring sands
The firestorm is coming soon

Another blade
With rusting spots of blood
Signifies the end
Drowning in the poison flood

Watching now
As the scythe
Splits the broken skies
Winter chill
Chains of lament scar your mind
Watching now
As the box
Now comes back to life
Far too late
When you hear its haunting chime

Another blade
With rusting spots of blood
Signifies the end
Drowning in the poison flood
Tainting me
Taking me
Staining me
Breaking me
Help me
I am in hell
I feel
Every nail
I have become pain
I have become suffering
I have become fear
I have become emptiness
