Deader and Hellworld in 2005?

The next two Hellraiser films still sit in limbo though hope has surfaced for an early 2005 release which a number of sites have mentioned. This should, of course, be taken with a pinch of salt as, until there is an official announcement, this should be treated as another rumour. Directed by Rick Bota, with a script written by Rick Bota, the two films will once again go Direct-to-video.

Special features for the two discs haven't been confirmed but it is known that Rick Bota and Doug Bradley recorded an audio commentary for HR7 and that the short film "No More Souls" (see below) should also feature. It seems likely HR8 will also feature a commentary but that is just speculation.

Also of note Bloody Disgusting has reported on the state of Dimensions DTV franchises:

"Miramax released a few titles in its DVD premiere horror fran-chises in the last year but held others to be part of its slate for thecoming year so the studio could better position them on its schedule and possibly release them in conjunction with fran-chise boxed sets, according to senior executive VP Jeff Fink."

HR7 and HR8 are rumoured to be released early 2005.

No More Souls

Gary J. Tunnicliffes official site posted this interesting pieces of news.

In February of 2003 Gary decided, post working on Hellraiser: Deader and Hellraiser: Hellworld that an ‘official’ shot at directing his own Hellraiser movie was probably out of the question and so he decided to make his own short film that would allow him opportunity to ‘flex’ his own ‘Hellraiser’ muscles and so it was that the project ’No More Souls’ came about. Filmed on a budget of about $2500 and shot at the Two Hours in the Dark Inc workshops, the 6 minute short was shot over a single weekend with just Gary, Mike Regan, Steve Lawrence, Claire Jane Vranian, Chris Grap, Blake Bolger and Mitch Coughlin.

Gary Tunnicliffe explians why he ahd to play the role of Pinhead himself:

“I would have loved Doug to have done this, but it was such a meager budget and he is based in the UK….so I took all of the lessons I have learnt from watching him…and I just tried to do him justice. It’s a pretty dark piece but it was SO much fun to write”

The "No More Souls" short film will appear on the Hellraiser: Deader DVD, believed to come out early 2005.

Gary Tunnicliffe explained the sentiment behind the project:

“I am delighted…this was such a fun project to create and everyone involved really got involved not for money or financial gain but really as a gift to me and for a love of the art…and to them and to the fans I dedicate it”
